Velebit becomes raw and elemental. Risnjak and Gorski kotar reveal the deep forest landscapes of Croatia's mountain interior. The Adrion Signature Winter Croatia Journey is a five-day private journey from Zagreb through Plitvice Lakes, Lika, Northern Velebit, Risnjak and Gorski kotar. Travel by premium AWD or 4x4 SUV. Walk and snowshoe through selected winter landscapes. Discover three of Croatia's defining natural regions. Return each evening to carefully selected accommodation, regional gastronomy and the warmth of a mountain table. This is not Croatia between seasons. Winter is the reason for the journey.
The journey
- Day 1
Zagreb
Arrive in Zagreb and begin with a private introduction to the Croatian capital. Historic streets and cultural heritage lead naturally towards a curated Welcome Dinner. A relaxed first day before the journey moves into the mountains.
- Day 2
Plitvice Lakes & Lika
Leave Zagreb by premium SUV and travel towards Plitvice Lakes. Spend approximately four hours exploring the National Park before continuing into Lika for regional gastronomy and the first mountain accommodation.
- Day 3
Northern Velebit & Lika
Experience Velebit according to the conditions of the day. Snowshoeing, winter walking, mountain forests, karst landscapes and selected viewpoints create an active but carefully adapted winter experience. Return to the same accommodation for a second night.
- Day 4
Risnjak & Gorski kotar
Cross towards Gorski kotar and enter the winter forests of Risnjak. Explore selected landscapes on foot or by snowshoe before slowing down over mountain gastronomy. Spend the final night surrounded by the landscapes of Gorski kotar.
- Day 5
Gorski kotar
The final morning is deliberately unhurried. Choose a relaxed winter forest experience, snowshoeing, Fužine, a local producer or additional time at the accommodation. A Farewell Lunch concludes the journey before the private return to Zagreb.

Premium accommodation included. Published prices apply to private groups of 4–6 guests. Journeys for 2–3 guests and larger private groups of up to 15 guests are individually quoted according to group configuration, accommodation, vehicle requirements and programme preferences. Questions
Is this a private journey?
Yes. Every departure is organised exclusively for the guests travelling together — private transportation, a dedicated Adrion Travel Host and journey coordination arranged for your group alone. There are no mixed Adrion departures.
Do I need mountaineering experience?
No. Selected winter routes are adapted to the ability of the private group and the conditions of the day. Where included, Adrion arranges snowshoeing or winter walking equipment and specialised guiding. The emphasis is on experiencing the landscape, not athletic performance.
What happens if conditions change?
The structure of the journey stays; the mountain programme flexes. Snow depth, wind, visibility and trail access all change, so Adrion and the appropriate local experts select the most suitable route on the day. The objective is never to reach a particular point at any cost.
What vehicles are used?
Premium winter-equipped AWD or 4x4 SUVs throughout. For five or six guests, two SUVs can be used to preserve comfort and luggage capacity. This is private winter travel designed around the landscape, not an off-road tour.
